Physical Requirement for Grade PSC (Portland Slag Cement)-(IS-455)

When a Portland Slag cement is tested for its physical requirements, then it must satisfy the following specifications given by IS 12269.

  1. The fineness value of PSC when tested by Blaine’s air permeability method shall not be less than 225 m2/kg.
  2. The expansion value (i.e. soundness) of unaerated cement when tested by Le-Chaelier method shall not be more than 10 mm and when tested by autoclave method shall not be more than 0.8%.
  3. Initial setting time of 53 grade OPC shall not be less than 30 minutes.
  4. Final setting time of 53 grade OPC shall not be more than 600 minutes.
  5. The average compressive strength of at least 3 mortar cubes, when tested as per IS-4031-Part 6, shall be as follows.

    Iam Vishwas from Lucknow. I am about to start a fly ash brick plant here. I want to know that is PSC suitable for making bricks? I wud use 45%-50 fly ash ,40%stonedust rest cement. I want high strength bricks. If not PSC then OPC is suitable ??
